What We Need to Know about Demons

Satan wants to be God. Satan also wants us to believe we can become God, answering to no one and doing whatever we feel is right. Arrogance marked Satan’s downfall (Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:1-23).
We must be humble before God. The Pharisees initially had good intentions, focusing on God and separating themselves from a bad culture. But when their followers put them on a pedestal, they became self-righteous and refused to accept Christ. Their pride became their downfall.
Satan is constantly trying to destroy our faith and devour us (1 Peter 5:8).
But Satan can’t just come into our lives. We have to allow or invite Satan to come in. And those possessed by a demon take on the demon’s personality (Luke 11:14-20).
Satan masquerades as an angel of light, beautiful and harmless (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Typically, getting caught up with Satan starts slowly.
So, don’t get involved with Satan in any way. Don’t dabble in demonically inspired movies or media. Stay away from witchcraft. Don’t pray to the dead; we should only pray to God alone. Don’t seek or attempt to consult the dead, like Saul, who fell apart after consulting the dead Samuel (Deuteronomy 18: 9-13, 1 Samuel 28:3-20).
Remain alert and sober (1 Peter 5:8).
But sinful temptations are everywhere. Bad thoughts try to come into our minds day and night. They are not from nowhere. Satan is trying to get to you. Don’t live as if Satan doesn’t exist.
We need God to help us fight Satan. Pray to God. Follow Christ. As followers of Christ, demons can’t possess us because we belong to God, and no one can snatch us out of His hands (John 10:27-30). Let our house not be empty. Instead, be constantly filled by the Holy Spirit and the word of God. That way, there is no room for demons to come in (Luke 11:24-26). We can do everything for God’s glory.
